A Chat with Our New Wellness Specialist, Courtney Maiorino

Who is the new person working with Joel and Cassi?

If you have visited our store since August, you have probably seen our new wellness specialist, Courtney Maiorino. We appreciate the special role our wellness specialists play in your health. You want to know about the people who guide you. It is our pleasure to introduce you to Courtney.

What is your education/background, coming into this role?

I received my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Southern Maine in Health and Wellness with a minor in Holistic and Integrative Health in 2013. I also became a Certified Holistic Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2015. Since completing my education, I have been working more specifically with patients who live with chronic illness and autoimmune disease alongside other various roles in healthcare.

What was your first impression, when you started here in August?

Everyone is very nice and enjoys the work that they do.

What do you like most about being a Wellness Specialist?

I love to meet people and learn more about the health and lifestyle regimen they use to feel their best.

If you could trade jobs with another Coastal employee, what job would you choose?

Marketing and planning/scheduling the wellness events sounds like fun.

What trend do you see happening in the nutraceutical arena?

I see more young adults asking about, and/or taking supplements.   Whether they are using supplementation to take a more holistic approach to a chronic health condition, or just want to optimize their health now, it’s nice to see that health and well-being are becoming more of a priority for younger people.

When your friends and family learn that you work here, what do they ask?

They have had some supplement questions, but they are mostly just happy because I am doing something that is more aligned with my education and interests.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

“Transformation is often more about unlearning than learning.”
– Richard Rohr

What is it like, working with Joel?

I tend to listen more when he is chatting with customers and ask a lot of questions.  Getting to listen to him guide people in supplement recommendations is helpful because I’m learning a lot!  He also is great for a random joke or laugh when you least expect it.

Any hidden talents?

I am Master/Teacher-certified in Reiki.

Please be sure to say hello to Courtney on your next visit.  She looks forward to helping you navigate the complex world of nutritional supplements!

Coastal Pharmacy & Wellness Staff

Jenny is the business development director at Coastal Pharmacy & Wellness and has been calling on medical practitioners for twenty years.  Several of those were spent working within the pharmaceutical industry, which has given her an appreciation for the personalization of compounded medications.  Educating prescribers about the flexibility of customized medications is so gratifying;  It’s a good day when she can connect a Coastal pharmacist with a practitioner to find a solution to a patient’s unique issue.
